HVP extruder: the beating heart of Roboze Metal Replacement

What is the metal replacement?

Metal Replacement, i.e., the replacement of metal alloys with super polymers and composite materials, is a source of competitive advantage in sectors such as Aerospace, Motorsport, and Energy as it allows you to benefit of remarkable mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties for the benefit of greater lightness, workability, and performance.

Some production sectors require materials such as PEEK or CARBON PEEK to obtain extreme performance, but these are particularly difficult to process due to their high viscosity. The latter is the measure of resistance that a fluid opposes to its deformation when subjected to shear or traction stresses the higher the viscosity of a polymer, the greater the difficulties that can be encountered during printing.

Roboze HVP extruder, engineering know-how applied to material science

Increasing the extrusion temperature is not the only solution for printing parts that comply with the required industrial requirements. As for the ARGO 500 heated chamber and the HVP extrusion system, it was necessary to rethink everything by bringing together different engineering know-how applied to materials science.

It is from these assumptions that the HVP (High Viscosity Polymers) extruder is born and added to the critical elements of Roboze Automate, the technological ecosystem that brings 3D printing on a par with traditional industrial production.

The patent pending HVP extrusion system has a narrowing of the internal ceramic channel designed to reduce friction and facilitate the acceleration of the polymer flow. With the aid of compressed air cooling, this flow affects the shape memory of the material. The device reaches temperatures up to 232 °F / 450 °C ensuring low dimensional tolerances and a reduction in shrinkage phenomena, while preserving the intrinsic characteristics of the material used.

Furthermore, the extruder is powered by a closed and cooled system with two particularly resistant gears, which guarantee excellent grip and a pulling force 10 times higher than traditional systems to obtain an optimized polymer flow.

Every little component of Roboze Automate is the result of a deep study based on the real needs of the manufacturing world in terms of Metal Replacement for customized production.
