Maximum resistance, minimum weight and reduced costs: 3D printing of a motorcycle triple clamp

One of the biggest challenge of the Motorsport sector is reducing weights, using lighter parts with no compromise on the high performance standard of the produced components. Using Roboze super polymers instead of light alloys – like aluminium for example – guarantees high performance with an additional reduction of weights.

Increasing the resistance of the parts thanks to Carbon PA

We’ve printed a motorcycle triple clamp using Carbon PA, one of the strongest and most performing composite materials in terms of mechanics in the polymeric 3D printing sector. With a 138 MPa tensile strength, a tensile elastic modulus of 15 GPa and 200° C HDT, Roboze Carbon PA plays a key role in those sectors that require both lightness and strength.

In particular, the 3D printing of a motorcycle triple clamp allowed us to save up to 50% on the weight of the aluminium clamp. In terms of prices, moreover, while an aluminium clamp does cost around 150-200 euro, the one realized in Carbon PA did cost only 50 euro.

In this way, Roboze technology, thanks to its high performance polymers like Carbon PA, allows to combine the advantages of Metal Replacement with the advantages of additive manufacturing, in terms of production time and costs.
