Barrett “Bear” Krupa was only 8-year-old when in 1993 passed away after his courageous five-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, founded in his memory, has organizised the Purple Affair for the Bear, the annual signature fundraising event that will take place on the 18th of January 2020 in Chicago to support the research against pediatric cancer.

Bear Necessities Foundation: missions and goals

Now, for over 25 years, the mission of the Bear Necessities Foundation, founded by Bear’s mother, Kathleen Casey, has been to eliminate pediatric cancer and to provide hope and support to those who are touched by it and their families.

Support the research against pediatric cancer

80 percent of all funds raised by the Foundation go directly to cancer research and the initiatives that support pediatric cancer patients and their families. The support does include also customized experiences, like cooking classes or sport events, to brighten the life of a child with cancer, allowing them to rediscover their childhood during the long days of their treatment.

The Bear Discoveries Program awards cancer research grants across the country to researchers making advancements toward finding a cure for pediatric cancers. Since its inception, the Bear Discoveries Program has funded over $4 million in research grants to more than 75 scientists.

Bear’s dream was helping all those children who, like him, fight for life in the hospitals all over the world: his vision has become true thanks to the will power of his mother and many other benefactors who still believe in Bear’s dream.

Roboze supports the Foundation, do the same and help Bear to defeat cancer.
